Black and White to Color

Image
This is the photo I chose to use for the black and white reference.  Complimentary: This is the first Black and White to Color Portrait that I did out of these three shown. However, this is not my first experience taking black and white photos and reviving them with colors. I had fun with this project because being restricted to the color palettes at color.adobe.com was quite interesting. I tried to change the palettes to something that I could potentially make look somewhat normal but I also tried to mix in some interesting tones like seen here. It was quite a challenge to use the three shades of green in different places because they can be quite close while painting onto the photo. In this image though I also had a bunch of trouble with the hair and trying to only have individual strands colored, but that was very time consuming and the edges are a little too hard.  Compound: This was the next portrait that I did for this project. This one was much easier to myself

Tag Brush

This is my logo tag, in this project it was pretty fun trying to compile different stamps and shapes to give what is normally a simple logo some exciting changes. I enjoyed turning my logo that we created previously into a brush and honestly that never crossed my mind before. But it's very smart and I will definitely be doing that again because now I can use this brush a billion times on any project I may do in the future and it saves tons of time from doing these effects on each project. Above, I've shown a small compilation of three colored versions of the brush. I really enjoy the effect you can see by picking the Red, Green and Blue colors. I've also attached just a black and white version of the tag so we can see what it looks like without all the confusion of the other colors.

Self Portrait/Propaganda Poster

Self Portrait I had a lot more fun with this project that I was originally expecting to! Initially I thought I was going to have a real hard time trying to get the shapes to resemble me, however it actually ended up flowing a lot smoother than anticipated. This first portion I was truly just focused on trying to get the shapes and colors to a point where anyone who knows me could point to it and say "yeah that's max!". It was interesting to play with the different layers and to see what the best way to create shapes effectively without adding too much detail to the unseen areas like my chin or under my hair. There were some challenges. I was initially planning on adding more detail into the shirt and the hair because in the reference there was a ton of colors and a ton of strands of hair. However, when I created the base layer I think it was more effective than trying to obtain a photo realistic representation. Propaganda Poster The second half of this project
