Calligram

Image
For my Calligram I have created a version of Captain America's shield from the marvel cinematic universe. I chose this piece because my original idea had failed and I still wanted to make something from the MCU because I love each and every one of those movies so much. I had some trouble with trying to get the colors right and to make them stand out because I didn't want to have a dark background, but the white letters almost blend too much into the white background. If I were to redo this project I would definitely change the words from just "America" or "Captain America" to some of the quotes from the movies I enjoy the most, or possibly use more "Captain America". I do enjoy this piece though and I think it's very patriotic and I'm happy with how the blue circle turned out. Overall, this project was really fun and I've never done something like this exactly in Illustrator. Next time I'll play around more with the text and see

Illustrator Tutorials

There are many tutorials around for all kinds of effects and interesting elements of Adobe Illustrator, these are some that I've found that stand out to me. The first one is a tutorial that is pretty dedicated to text and nearly one hundred ways of customizing it to your hearts content. The tutorials can be found at this link : https://1stwebdesigner.com/illustrator-text-effects/ I really like the neon text and the tron lettering because these are both forms of text that look very interesting but illustrator makes them fairly easy to achieve. Next, is a YouTube video that I found and this video is very helpful to those who are new to the adobe illustrator platform. And even to someone like myself, who has used Illustrator several times in the past couple years, it serves as a nice refresher. https://youtu.be/IBouhf4seWQ Finally, this last tutorial is great for showing those who know their way around some tips and tricks for the drawing tools found in Illustrator. Canvas Coding Final

Image
This is a piece that I call "HackerMan" and I created it entirely in code on a computer. Traditionally I've always created digital art inside of a program that has all of the coding done for you. Making this my first experience with writing code from scratch and I truly learned a lot in the process. My inspiration for this piece is how I envision hackers in the 1970's. I've always had an interest in glasses and the reflections that they can show us of the world they see, so I thought it would be fun to incorporate that into this piece. In the reflections on the glasses you can see a CRT monitor which is all green and supposed to show some code on the screens. Sadly I am still learning and couldn't figure out how to make the lettering appear backwards like it would in real life. I had a lot of fun playing around with gradients and almost every single shape in this piece has a small gradient to make it feel more true to life. I learned a lot with this piece
